Blencathra Cottage stands 7 miles away from the busy Lakeland town Keswick with views straight onto Sharp Edge (Blencathra) & Souther Fell. It is a Grade II listed Lakeland Stone Cottage built in 1681. Although the cottage has undergone internal refurbishment in Spring 2008, it still retains many original features.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms upstairs - 1 double & 1 bunk bedded room (adult 3 foot bunks & spring mattress's). Both rooms look out towards the Old Coach Road & Great Mell Fell. |

Downstairs there is an original 17th century porch leading into the beamed lounge (Please note 1 beam has head clearence 5'10' - 5'11'). The Inglenook fireplace has a new working multifuel stove. In the lounge there is a wide screen colour television & CD radio player. A high chair is provided also. The new oak kitchen is small but well equipped & the new bathroom has an electric mira shower, washbasin & toilet.
The cottage has private parking for 2 cars at the front & outside at the back there is a garden patio area with table, chairs & BBQ. The cottage is heated throughout by electric storage radiators. All electricity & linen are provided free of charge. A log-basket full of logs is also provided free of charge for the logburner. After that logs are for sale from the owner by request.

The owner maintains the cottage & has walked all 214 Wainwright fells thus being enthusiastic as to give any advice if needed on high or low level walks, local attractions, monuments, etc. Our book case is full of local guides & maps although they are to be kept in the cottage. |
